A Grateful Heart

Snowy! That's the best word to describe the current conditions on our homestead... white and wonderful and brrr!

It does make chores a little more difficult as we adjust to the changes wintry weather brings. But, we knew what we were signing up for when we moved to our homestead in December of 2000. There was *so* much snow here that year that we couldn't even drive to our house, we had to walk through the drifts.

That was almost seventeen years ago now! And I do love it here even more and more as time goes by.

It has been a happy-busy-as-usual week around here. Seems like there is always something to do... whether it is a *need* to do or a *want* to do, I just don't get bored. There isn't enough time for it! {smile}

I have been doing a lot of cooking this week. Tonight, for family fun night, we are celebrating our annual fall party... complete with costumes, games, and candy for the kids. I am going to put on my candy corn outfit again, the one I wore for the Halloween Fun Run. Here it is (from my Run Hoop Julie blog)...

And I think my new favorite breakfast is vegan pumpkin cornbread. I am working on the recipe to share with you... I want to test it again first... but here is a little sneak peek. Today, I had it with cashew butter and extra cinnamon on top. Oh my!

Here are a few of the things from my ongoing gratitude list this week...

:: Feeling better. Hopefully this is not too much information for you, but wowzer have I had a painful canker sore in my mouth this week. It has been hard to speak, eat, and even swallow... but it feels slightly better today, so I know it is on the mend.

:: Birds on the feeder. The birds that stay for winter have found my feeder again, yay! It makes me happy to see them out the window... and it is cute the way our parakeets "talk" to the visitors.

:: Getting rid of clutter. It is ongoing, my quest to remain organized and clutter-free. Seems like I manage to rid our space of a bag full of stuff every week... where does it all come from? I went through my closet again this week, and some drawers, and our school cabinets!

:: Like-minded friends. I have joined so many groups of like-minded people (online)... what a blessing to have encouragement from people who enjoy the same things and share the same interests!

:: Snow. It is lovely... white and wintry for as far as I can see. How blessed I am to have a stay-at-homestead life, days spent with my family (and our critters) on our homestead... learning and playing and making together. May I never take a single one of these ordinary days for granted, for they do indeed pass all to quickly.

Thank you, friends, for coming by my blog this week... and for checking out Run Hoop Julie, too. I do enjoy sharing with you in this space (and that one) and I truly appreciate every one who takes a peek at my ramblings.

Wishing you abundant blessings and a wonderful weekend...
